The countdown begins

From our balcony

Hi everyone! Well it has been almost a year since Mom (Aunt Mary) was supposed to visit us here in Stockholm. As most of you know, she was driving to pick up her boarding passes for the flight the next day and was involved in an auto accident. That put all of our plans on hold. Thank goodness she recovered and no one else was seriously hurt. Anyway, that is behind us and we are ready to welcome her back on June 18th. We are all very excited and can't wait until she gets here.

We have some fun surprises planned for her when she arrives but we promise not to wear her out too much. The important thing is that we get to be together. She arrives just at the mid-summer celebrations, which is a very big deal here in Sweden. This is the famous "May pole" thing, you know, where the young girls dance around the pole out in the woods. It is an ancient pagen ceremony and as I said, a big deal in Sweden.

Our plan is to pick her up from the airport and then take the train home. The airport express train takes just 20 minutes to get to the center of Stockholm (almost an hour by car). Once we get back to our place we will let her freshen up a bit and then will get on another train and head down to Maria's mother's (Gun) place in the countryside. It is 30 minutes to the train station near Gun, and she will pick us up and drive us the rest of the way. I will post some pictures later, so be sure to check back to this blog.

I will be updating this blog regularly with pix and stories about what we have been up to, so check back every couple of days. And please, don't forget to leave your own comments it's easy.

Love you all,
